Dads on Dirt and D&D Bikes bring you the Fourth MILFDURO!
Back by popular demand! New segments! New route! Same enduro-format race around Milford!
“What’s an enduro?” …. Enduro timed means that ONLY THE STRAVA SEGMENTS LISTED WILL COUNT TOWARDS YOUR RACE TIME. Overall route time doesn’t matter.
This is NOT a typical downhill-type enduro. The segments are a mix of climbing and downhill single-track trail. Part adventure, part race … ALL FUN!
The race will consist of Strava segments along the OFFICIAL MILFDURO race route. Race day is any day YOU pick between AUGUST 17 THROUGH AUGUST 24, 2024. However, YOU MUST RIDE THE ENTIRE ROUTE in ONE DAY and THE SEGMENTS MUST BE RIDDEN IN ORDER ALONG THE ROUTE for your segment times to count.
Here’s the FULL MILFDURO Race route:
https://www.strava.com/routes/3244492387495836280
The 5 segments that will count in the race will be:
- Hermann’s Dream
- Berm Blaster
- West Side of Loop 2 to Garden Rd.
- Loop 1 Connector Westbound
- It’s All Downhill from here …
Directions from Start to Finish (Following the RACE ROUTE):
- You’ll be starting from the Proud Lake New Parking Lot. Ride north into Loop 3. You’ll ride a bit of loop three, climbing to the high point. Once you reach the sign for “Hermann’s Dream” start sprinting! The segment ends at the bottom before you start climbing your way back.
- The Second Segment: “Berm Blaster” is after you’ve climbed back out a bit after Hermann’s Dream downhill. You’ll cross a 2 track trail and the next Berm Blaster starts. It finishes again at a 2 track. You’ll turn left to go to the next segment.
- Follow the 2 track to the railroad crossing. Cross the tracks and stay to the left. Third Segment is “West Side of Loop 2 to Garden RD” THIS SEGMENT IS A 2 WAY TRAIL. The segment starts at the next trail split. Stay left at all splits. Take the trail all the way to the road – where the segment ends.
- Turn right on Garden Rd. Follow it East, across the bridge and down to Wixom rd. When you reach Wixom rd, turn right, staying on the grass shoulder. The entrance to the trail is about 50 feet on the right. THIS SEGMENT IS A 2 WAY TRAIL. The Fourth Segment “Loop 1 Connector Westbound“ starts at the entrance of the trail. Continue straight at the next intersection. Follow the trail until it finishes back at Garden Rd. Turn left on Garden Rd.
- Go back across the wood bridge. Just after the campground entrance, you will see signs for the mountain bike trail. Enter there and follow west along the field, turning south to go back toward the railroad tracks. Cross the tracks and follow the trail back to the next 2 track, turn left and head back to the parking lot.
- Now you have a choice to jump into Loop 4 and ride that until the next segment. Or take Dawson Rd to Old Plank Rd and jump into Loop 4 at the Kensington Connector.
- The Last Segment “It’s all downhill from here…” starts after the Kensington Connector taking loop 4 for a bit after a climb. I’ll try to get it marked. The segment ends at the trail entrance just before the road.
